Interview: Aaron Feaver

Wave

Name: Aaron Feaver

Age: 31

Where are you from?: I've been in Los Angeles for the last few years.

Tools of the Trade: Lately I've been into my Polaroid SLR 680SE, a Salyut-C 6x6, a Fuji Instax 500AF, an Olympus OM-1n and my Canon digital SLR.

Artistic influences?:
Ooh, too many influences to list. I guess that's why I keep a blog. As for how much they influence me, it's a lot. Especially when I'm trying something new, I almost always have a reference in mind; a photo or a mood created by someone else that I try to mimic.

Why do you like photography?:
I think in the simplest terms, I enjoy making something pretty. I also like trying things that are hard or don't come naturally to me. Lately I've been taking a lot of pictures of people, which are hard for me, and the challenge has been really rewarding.

Where do you see yourself in the future?:
Hopefully just taking more and more photos.

Where did you learn how to edit:
When I see a photo I really like, I try to figure out how the photographer took it, and then I try to recreate it. Not literally, usually, but I try to capture the same mood.

Who/what/where are important parts of your process:
I just moved into an apartment with a room I use as a photo studio, and that's made a huge difference. Just being able to have people come over and have everything I need in one place has been really liberating. Also having friends who are always happy to model for me, as well as some great models I've met through Model Mayhem.

Film or digital:
Both!

Not sure where to post this but I wanted to ask if anyone has heard of National Clicks?

Can someone help me find it?

Overheard some co-workers talking about it all week but didn't have time to ask so I thought I would post it here to see if someone could help me out.

Seems to be getting alot of buzz right now.

Thanks
